Will it take a long time to computerise my files, and enter them into the system?

You can enter your paper files in super-quick time! We have paid special attention to your need to quickly enter your personnel files. Skills DB has a ‘Fast Data Entry’ screen that has been specially built to permit your staff to quickly enter a person’s important details. It will take you less than 30 seconds to enter a person’s details using this screen. It usually takes less than two weeks to enter the details for two thousand people. Once the basic details are added, you can add more information as time permits.

Now that I have entered my personnel into the system, how can I search for them?

The searching modules in Skills DB are excellent.
There are two searching modules:

Quick Search: To find people based on their name or skills. For example, you can use this search to give you a listing of:
• all the Secretaries you have in the database,
• or all people that have the first name ‘Milinda’
• or all the people whose first or last name begins with ‘Mi’
• or any combination of the above

Advanced Search: To find that special person with reference to ANY piece of information. For example, use this search to give a listing of all people that:
• are skilled as a Welder, and
• are under 30 years of age, and
• have an A-Level school certificate, and
• have done a training course in Welding and Automotive Repair, and
• have been assessed by you as ‘good’, and
• have worked in Jordan, and
• speak Arabic fluently, and
• are single, and
• have a valid passport

Once you have a list of people using either Quick or Advanced search, you see view ALL the information kept on that person from a single screen.

How many people can Skills DB keep in its databank?

Skills DB can support thousands of people in its databank. The system has a ‘client-server’ design, which will easily handle the growth of your databank as it increases.

How can I classify the skills of the people in my database?

Skills DB supports a two-level classification, where it can record the Profession and the Specialisation. For example, an Accountant (the profession) can also be labeled as an Auditor (the specialisation). The same person may ALSO have a specialisation of Book-Keeper. Skills DB will let you label a person with more than one profession and specialisation.

Can I customise the skills classification to suit my business?

Yes – Skills DB will let you customize the master list of skills and disciplines to suit your area of business, whether you deal with:

Professional staff: Engineers, Accountants, Hospitality, Receptionists etc

Skilled staff: Machine Operators, Factory Workers, Welders, Technicians, Heavy-Duty Vehicle Drivers etc

Semi/Non-Skilled staff: Housemaids, Drivers, Laborers, Domestic Workers etc

Does Skills DB run on my computer system? Is it compatible with Windows?

Skills DB will work on every Microsoft Windows environment including 98, ME, NT, 2000, and XP. It also runs on Linux
The minimum requirement is any Pentium II computer with Windows 98 or higher, a minimum of 64 MB memory and 100 MB free disk space.

Does Skills DB work over a network?

Skills DB works over a network, where many people can use it at the same time. When it is installed over a network, one central computer will have the database, and your staff will connect to this database and work together at the same time. You can change from a single computer to a networked system whenever you want – no changes are required to the software.

What are the reports I can do?

Skills DB has the following standard reports.

• Skills
• Qualifications
• Experience
• Project History
