Distributed
databases residing on different remote platforms have
always posed a synchronization problem in Wide Area
Network environments especially when remote database
data are required to update a master table. This is
particularly problematic when the Internet connectivity
is carried out through a dial-up connection or a low
bandwidth leased line. Genesiis Software has developed
MySQLSync to resolve this problem.
MySQLSync is a set of ActiveX components that provides
the functionality to synchronize databases using internet
mail. It interrogates the schema of a database system
and dynamically packages committed database transaction
into a mail package for delivery and executing against
a remote database. It uses MAPI to integrate with Outlook
email services, and performs on-the-fly compression
using a WinZip compatible compression library.
